The new live-action Little Mermaid movie stars Halle Bailey as Ariel. Halle is best known as one half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle. Jonah Hauer-King plays Prince Eric, the extremely talented Melissa McCarthy portrays the evil Ursula, Jacob Tremblay takes on the voice role of Flounder, Javier Bardem plays Ariel’s father, King Triton, Daveed Diggs is Sebastian, Awkwafina gets to voice Scuttle, and Noma Dumezweni gets to play Eric’s mother Queen Selina, a new role specially written into this live-action version.
The story of The Little Mermaid is a well-known tale, we are all familiar with the animated version, but this new Little Mermaid live-action version promises to be just a little different from what we have seen in the past.
Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda have written a host of new songs for the live-action version and with a number of the cast having RnB, Hip Hop vibe about them are we about to see Ariel rap?
