Before joining WWE, Cody Rhodes, born Cody Garrett Runnels on June 30, 1985, was immersed in the world of professional wrestling, influenced by his iconic father, Dusty Rhodes. Cody began his wrestling journey on the independent circuit and honed his skills in promotions such as Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and various regional territories.
In 2006, Cody signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling for further training. His early career in WWE’s developmental system allowed him to fine-tune his in-ring abilities and develop the charisma that would later define his WWE persona.
Cody Rhodes made his WWE television debut in 2007, quickly aligning himself with established stars like Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase Jr. to form the faction known as “Legacy.” Despite his rookie status, Cody displayed a level of maturity and skill beyond his years, earning respect from both fans and colleagues.
