LEGO Technic Tow Truck – 6×6 All Terrain Tow Truck 42070 Building Kit (1862 Pieces)
The first thing to mention about this great brick building set is that unfortunately it has now been discontinued by LEGO. The good news is that it is still available to buy on Amazon and eBay and other good online retailers.
The LEGO Technic Tow Truck – 6×6 All Terrain Tow Truck 42070 Building Kit is quite an involved build with 1862 Pieces.
You are not going to just put this set together in one session, nor should you try to because part of the fun with all LEGO sets is building and that is particularly the case with these more detailed, and complex Technics sets.
It should be noted that with all these big Technics sets the parts are not in numbered bags so you are going to have just find each brick during the build and there are 590 building steps in the 402-page building manual.
The dimensions of the LEGO Technics Tow Truck are:
- 63cm / 2′ long,
- 20cm / 8″ wide and the
- The top of the cab is about 23cm / 9″ off the ground.
- 10cm / 4″ diameter tyres
The battery box placement is behind the cab and the remote IR receiver is behind the battery pack.
This LEGO Technics Tow Truck is big, very big. It really is an imposing vehicle when built.

LEGO has chosen well with the color scheme. It is very eye-catching.
A negative for this set is that there are a lot of stickers to apply. I always find the stickers to be a bit fiddly and annoying especially when your placement sometimes is not quite right.
The cost of this set is a bit racy side for most. This is not a set that the average LEGO fan just goes out and buys. But although it is expensive it is still a set that deserves to be on my best LEGO Technics Sets to Buy article.
