Robert Smith was born in a little-known town outside of the UK called Blackpool. A seaside town famous for its seafront with colorful lights, candyfloss, Kiss me Quick hats, and the talented Robert Smith.
The Cure was part of the first wave of post-punk bands that emerged in England in the late 70s along with the likes of Joy Division and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Despite Robert’s dark brooding image, he has a very strong sense of humor. In a recent red carpet interview after the Cure had been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Robert Smith was asked about how he felt about being inducted by the extremely excited interviewer… “are you as excited as I am?” with Roberts reply being “by the sound of it No!”
