Taweret is a friendly hippopotamus goddess who appears to Marc Spector and Steve Grant at a critical moment in the fourth episode of the popular Marvel series.

Taweret’s arrival in Moon Knight’s fourth episode was an appearance that intrigued fans of the show.
The goddess of fertility and rejuvenation is known for having an extremely fierce nature.
She is known as “the great one,” a prominent goddess in ancient Egyptian mythology depicted with a hippopotamus head, lion’s arms, and a powerful crocodile’s tail and legs.
Taweret was worshipped throughout Egypt as a god that help women during childbirth and ward off evil spirits and act as a protector of women and children. Taweret also has a close association with the River Nile and it is believed she was believed that she could bring about life through the river’s flood waters.
Moon Knights Taweret is referenced in Moon Knight’s first episode when the museum boss mistakes the museum shop plush toys resembling hippos as mere hippos. She is corrected when Steven informs her that they are representations of the Egyptian goddess Taweret.
Taweret makes a more prominent appearance in the fourth episode of the series when she opens a door for Marc Spector and Steven Grant in the mental institution.
